Thermoshield is one of the exciting products in our Megabond range of premium products. Wallchem Manufacturing cc is the sole manufacturing of Thermoshield in South Africa. We also manufacture a decorate range of coatings under the Wallcraft brand. We supply to over 300 hardware and paint retailers directly and also make use of distributers who combined supply to another +1000 retailers.
Going Green
Thermoshield® which resembles paint, is an energy saving, long-term protection system all in one. It is a non-hazardous, water based coating developed for a wide range of household, industrial, commercial and Do-It-Yourself applications. One of the mechanisms Thermoshield uses to reduce heat is by reflecting a very high percentage of heat causing Infra Red light. The result is that the building absorbs less heat. Heat absorbed by buildings and roads are releases very slowing again which causing a the urban heat island effect. Research done in the US suggest that reducing the heat island effect could in turn reduce greenhouse gas emissions and so directly offset global warming. One scientific paper drawing on past research, calculated that installing cool roofs throughout major US cities could "roughly equivalent to taking half of the world's approximately 600 mllion cars off the road for 20 years."
